The picture is of the rou
te we will be taking.Unfortunately we already have a change. For Teneriffe as our first stop, read Madeira. This has come about through a bit of congestion at Southampton. There are four cruise berths, and somehow the authorities agreed to six ships sailing on 5th January 2011, including the new Queen Elizabeth. Olsen's agreed that Black Watch (our ship), and Balmoral, would delay their departure until 8pm instead of 5pm. To give us a first port of call with enough time tomake use of it, Madeira replaces Teneriffe.
Our trip is scheduled to last 77 days, returning to Southampton on 23rd March.
We will be taking a side trip at the end of the second leg, when we have arrived in Callao/Lima. We are going to Macchu Pichu, about 10,500 ft up in the Andes.
Now is preparation time, and we are doing our best to get organised ahead of time. The packing won't start until after New Year, though. Going from Southampton to Southampton means that we do not have to worry about weight, and can take what we want(within reason!). There is a limit, but at 90kgs each, it will be very hard to make use of it.
